Tab Clearing
As always, I am reading more than I can ever finish. Here are some of the things from the past few days that have caught my interest:
Will the United States Run Out of Javelins Before Russia Runs Out of Tanks? (The Center for Strategic and International Studies) — This article raises the interesting question of how quickly can the US produce arms and how helping the Ukrainians affects American strategic stockpiles of arms.
Sure Elon Musk Might Buy Twitter (Bloomberg) — Matt Levin is my favorite financial writer of all time. The way he tries to joke through the pain of Elon Musk being Elon Musk makes for an entertaining read. He also is clear-eyed about the fact that markets in 2022 act nothing like they did a few years ago when Elon’s tweets weren’t the golden goose that magically raises stock prices.
Railway map of Antarctica — This map is delightful and perfect
Rick Beato & Adam Neely Face Off (Dua Lipa and Jaco Controversies) — Even if you aren’t a music nerd, Rick Beato and Adam Neely’s wide-ranging chat is worth checking out.
Ohio Supreme Court rejects 4th set of legislative maps (USA Today) — Ohio is onto the fifth round of attempting to create a redistricting plan. I guess the constitutional amendment banning partisan gerrymandering has an effect. I was skeptical that it would actually change anything.
Colleagues worry Dianne Feinstein is now mentally unfit to serve, citing recent interactions (San Francisco Chronicle) — This is the most recent of the long string of articles that drip out once a year about DiFi’s mental faculties. If she refuses to retire in 2024, the party should refuse to support her campaign.
